A Lake Thun fairytale Hünegg Castle is no ordinary museum. Rather, it is a unique living example of a past way of life. The complete, extensive furnishings have remained unchanged since 1900. A tour of the museum for domestic culture in Historicism and Art Nouveau gives the impression that time has stood still. The architecture of this fairytale building, constructed between 1861 and 1863, with its magnificent outlook onto the lake and the Alps, is in the style the French castles of the Loire Valley. History comes alive here!

Inside the romantic castle complex, a museum has been set up that goes into the history of the former inhabitants. At the same time, one can enjoy a spectacular view over the lake and the mountains from the oriental smoking salon at the top of the tower. The surrounding castle park is one of the most beautiful gardens in the Alpine region and invites you to linger.

The castle area of Spiez is beautifully situated on Lake Thun. In the museum, 1300 years of history can be experienced. Stations to try out, the knight's trail and a 360° panorama make the visit an experience also for families. In addition, top-class art exhibitions are presented regularly. The 1000-year-old castle church is open to the public.

Mighty and lofty, Thun Castle with its unmistakable four towers has been enthroned above the town since the 12th century. The donjon is the only intact surviving witness to the time of the Zähring dynasty and is a cultural asset of national importance. Today, the "Knights' Hall" can still be experienced in it as the largest preserved representation hall of the High Middle Ages. The history of the town and castle is shown in new exhibitions on the five floors of the donjon. Valuable Thun town antiquities, such as the medieval antependium carpets from the Thun churches or valuable pieces of booty from the Burgundian wars, bear witness to the town's lively past. From the towers, the striking castle also offers an incomparable view of the mountains, city and lake.
